HBO is rebooting harry potterstarting with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone This Christmas, the TV series will continue to air for multiple seasons, each adapted from another book by author JK Rowling.
Views of the trans community continue to be divided, with many Wizarding World fans being critical of actors willing to star in the series. The main argument is that the actors, by agreeing to play the characters Rowling created, are somehow endorsing Rowling’s point of view. Of course, just as much harry potter Fans find it easy to separate the art from the artist (and some agree with the author).
Several actors were asked what they thought of the author’s stance on the hot topic, and now Kit Harington is asked about the ongoing discussion surrounding the author.
this game of Thrones The star was recently cast as Gilderoy Lockhart Harry Potter and the Chamber of SecretsThe role was taken over after Nicholas Hoult exited the show due to scheduling issues. Harington previously played Lockhart in Audible’s Full-Cast Editions.
“I’ve been a Harry Potter fan my whole life” harrington told today (via SFFGazette.com), explaining why he joined the series. “I was a fan of it as a kid and I rediscovered it as an adult and listened to it every night. I listen to it every night and it helps me sleep and I know other people do it too, so they’re very important to me.”
He continued, “When I found out it was a series, I thought it was the best idea. Because I love movies, but with this they can really fully explore the books, which is a really great idea for a nerd like me.”
Although Rowling is an executive producer on the HBO series, she is not expected to be heavily involved in its creation. The author has relatively little to say about the new cast, but takes a swipe at the original harry potter Stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson criticized her views on transgender people, saying the latter was “I wonder how ignorant she is.”
Rowling’s views on transgender issues have been an issue at HBO harry potter From the beginning. While she continues to deny that she is transphobic, she has not shied away from sharing her thoughts on trans women being allowed into spaces reserved for biological females and celebrating legal and political developments that trans rights advocates oppose.
Asked last year about Rowling’s views, HBO boss Casy Bloys said; “The decision to work with JK Rowling is not new to us. We’ve been in business for 25 years. It’s clear that these are her personal political views. She is entitled to them. Nothing is secretly injected into Harry Potter. If you want to debate her, you can go on Twitter.”

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone premieres this Christmas on HBO Max.
