Loose Sam #22 — Making Faces

September 18, 2026

Can’t we at least stab a child?

Yes, I know at least one fall show has aired a few episodes early. This is…another fucking single player leveling knockoff, so I’m tired of watching it for a good five minutes. I’ll probably work on it on Sunday. Season previews are well underway, remember when they said cheating ability Isekai was going away? The anime world certainly doesn’t think so. This… is going to be a tough game.

impression:

This seems a bit anticlimactic, although I guess there are still two episodes left. Meanwhile, the field trip seemed…over. They were obviously trying to do a “It’s Tuesday for Buffalo” thing with Gao, but I don’t think they went to the level of existential horror, nor do I think he went to the level of a cold-blooded psychopath. If anything, he doesn’t remember Tokio and immediately seeks mercy and leniency just because he was a child, which is quite the opposite. What about the rest? Well, it failed for off-screen reasons. So we are leaving. Uh…okay.

We also have to remember that the family Tokiyuki seeks revenge on is deeply corrupt, and feudal Japan/everyone’s default state in this show is constant betrayal, power struggles, and the razing of the countryside. Simply becoming a metaphorical demon doesn’t extend beyond all the characters who were originally half-monsters with talking ears. Not talking about me think Torture porn, but at the very least, he probably should have at least dislocated a few kids’ limbs to emphasize sentences instead of making demonic faces.
