The project agreement was signed during Mohammed bin Salman’s two-day visit to France and will see the construction of three theme parks. While one of the parks will be comic-themed, details of the remaining two parks have not yet been revealed. The parks are expected to create about 22,000 jobs, while Disneyland Paris will create about 20,000 jobs, according to the Elysée Palace.
The project will be funded by Saudi Arabian entertainment and investment group Qiddiya, which is also establishing an independent dragon ball theme park in the city of Qidiya and continues the kingdom’s push to diversify its economy beyond oil and into the leisure and entertainment industries.
While the agreement has been reached, the park is planned to be built and opened in phases, meaning construction will take several years, with no opening date set yet.
