Gaara is one of the most intimidating characters when he was first introduced in OG Naruto. He was fierce, evil, strong and had everything in his personality that you would want to stay away from. What made Gaara so strong at that stage was the One Tail beast: Shukaku.
However, later in Shippuden, we see Akatsuki extract Shukaku from him. So the question is: Will Gaara get Shukaku back later?
Gaara does not get Shukaku back. After having the One-Tailed Beast removed, there is no evidence in the Naruto or Boruto series of him becoming a Jinchuriki again. And as for Shukaku, he remained free like a tailed beast.
Does Gaara get Shukaku back?
Gaara was the Jinchuriki of the 1-tailed beast. And while Akatsuki was hunting the tailed beast one by one, they sent Deidara to capture Gaara.
After a fierce battle, he captured Gaara and took him to one of his hideouts. There they used Gedo’s statue to extract the Tailed Beast from him. And as we know, the Jinchuriki dies once the Tailed Beast comes out. And Gaara died then.
However, Lady Chiyo used a forbidden Jutsu and saved him in exchange for her own life. Gaara comes back to life, but as an ordinary ninja, not a Jinchuriki.
During the Fourth Great Ninja War, we see Shukaku break free from the Gedo statue. Although shortly after, Madara took it again along with other Tailed Beasts inside the statue.
And after the war, he is free again. This time, Shukaku is free forever.
However, up to that point, there is no sign or indication of him re-entering Gaara.
And as for Boruto, we see Urashiki telling Momoshiki Otsutsuki that there are only 2 Jinchuriki left. Which he refers to as Naruto and Killer Bee. This also clearly indicates that Gaara did not get Shukaku back.
Why didn’t Gaara get Shukaku back?
Well, first of all, you don’t need to get Shukaku. Shukaku also doesn’t have that kind of bond to accept being sealed back inside of him.
Although they built a more friendly relationship over time, that is nowhere near the relationship and bond that Naruto and Kurama had.
And with that disgusting personality Shukaku has, who in their right mind would want him back? As for Shukaku, he finally broke free and wanted to roam the world as he pleased.
Does Gaara become a Jinchuuriki again?
No, Gaara does not become a Jinchuriki again after losing the One-Tailed Beast Shukaku.. A Jinchuuriki usually dies after the tailed beast is removed.
However, Gaara is alive and was in fact brought back to life thanks to Lady Chiyo. And after that we don’t see any information about Gaara becoming a Jinchuriki again.
Is Gaara a friend of Shukaku?
Yes, Gaara is Shukaku’s friend. As we see him contacting Shukaku over and over again in Boruto. And even Urashiki Otsutsuki was trying to capture Shukaku, Gaara sent him to Naruto to protect the tailed beast. And Shukaku agreed to the idea. So, yes, they are friends.
Who gets Shukaku after Gaara?
Nobody gets Shukaku after Gaara. After the war ended, Shukaku becomes completely free like many other tailed beasts.
Thanks to his unfriendly behavior and bad temper, it is very unlikely that he will want to lock himself inside someone again.
And as for Gaara, although he built a friendly relationship with Shukaku, he doesn’t really have any good reason to become a Jinchuuriki again.
Is Gaara still strong after losing Shukaku?
Yes, Gaara is still very strong after losing Shukaku.. Gaara, with his unusual manipulation of sand and his mastery of different types of Jutsu that use sand, becomes an exceptionally well-versed ninja, strong in both attack and defense.
We saw him fighting Madara with the other 4 Kage, then he helps Guye sensei fight Juubi Madara. And as time went on, with wisdom and experience, he became stronger as he grew older.
Conclusion
Gaara was the Jinchuuriki of the One-Tailed Beast Shukaku. However, Akatsuki captured and removed Shukaku from him. Although Lady Chiyo gives Gaara back his life in exchange for her own, she did not get Shukaku back.
And to this day, we see no evidence in the anime, manga, or databook that suggests Gaara getting Shukaku back. On the contrary, we see that Urashiki mentions that there were only 2 tailed beasts left in the world.
