vision quest Episodes 5 and 6 arrive on Disney+ tonight, and a new trailer from Marvel reveals a shocking update for Ultron, one that goes against his arc in the comics. At the end of vision quest In episode 4, Vision had surprisingly given Ultron control to fight the newly introduced character Jocasta and, less surprisingly, Ultron had taken that opportunity to completely take control and confirm that he is, in fact, still a villain. Heading into episode 5, Ultron has the controls in terms of Vision’s AI-filled mind, and it’s unclear what exactly that will mean for the confrontation with Jocasta and the threat she now represents.
However, in a new sneak peek shared by the official Marvel Studios Although it’s just a brief clip, and there could be more to this moment than initially meets the eye, the most obvious conclusion is that Ultron and Jocasta are showing signs of a budding romance; However, if they end up in a full-blown couple dynamic, then this will actually be a direct contradiction to their history in the comics, and so far, fans surprisingly seem excited about the idea.
Ultron and Jocasta weren’t really a couple in the comics
Ultron and Jocasta have a history in Marvel Comics, and it even involves a romance of sorts, but it’s a far cry from what this clip shows in the vision quest A preview is shown. Specifically, in the comics, Ultron creates Jocasta with the intention of making her his wife. In the end, that doesn’t quite work out, as Jocasta repeatedly makes decisions that reject this role Ultron had tried to assign her (including, among other things, allying herself with the Avengers over Ultron). Clearly, this is not a happy romance, or even, really, a romance at all, which makes this scene where Ultron kisses Jocasta’s hand even more surprising. Notably, this is also a deviation, since Ultron apparently did not create Jocasta in vision quest. That also makes it seem like this ‘romance’ is emerging more organically and therefore may be more real.
In response to this revelation, MCU fans have had a lot to say, but for the most part it has been unexpectedly positive. In the comments on Marvel’s X post with the teaser, for example, one commenter wrote, “I’m glad they’re still doing the romance between Jocasta and Ultron. I wasn’t sure if they were going to make it more one-sided,” suggesting a preference for this approach versus that in the comics. In response to another X post showing Ultron kissing Jocasta’s hand, another commenter similarly writes: “Ultron and Jocasta together could do vision quest “Much more interesting than I expected.”
However, there are also those who hope that the MCU will take a turn and align itself with the comics. In response to that same post from surpasses its creator and adapts to a Vision story perfectly.” It’s possible that the MCU will take this turn, although the trailer hasn’t suggested it. Perhaps tonight’s episode will reveal where the MCU will go.
