PPeople love drama. Why else would we spend several hours of our lives glued to our computers and/or smartphones watching a distraught heroine discover that she is actually an heiress who was switched for another child at birth?
We anime fans, on the other hand, spend our time and satisfy our craving for plot twists and turns with series that have the requisite “Oh, so she’s actually the long-lost sister who was kidnapped long ago!” element that moves us. These are some of those programs.

The classic example for all anime and drama lovers would be the case of Prince Zardoz and the Armstrongs of V turns. Prince Zardoz was hell-bent on destroying the Armstrongs because they were the main force blocking his conquest of Earth.
During a climactic fight scene, Dr. Armstrong recognizes the knife Zardoz was using as the gift he had given his wife before he was forced to flee to Earth. Zardoz’s true heritage was revealed. When his father arrived on Earth, he met a woman and fathered three more children who became members of the Voltes team.
So all this time the prince had been fighting against his own brothers. Of course, to add more irony, Zardoz found out about this fact just minutes before sacrificing his life for the people he had tried to kill many times before. Viewed from this perspective, it’s no wonder that drama-loving people loved this series!
A similar situation happened to Ken Washio, the leader of Gatchaman (G-Force) and his dad. The child was handed over to the head of ISO. Professor Kozaburou Nambu, and raised to become the leader of the main defense team against the Gallactor alien force.
When Gatchaman began fighting years later, the group had a backup group called Red Impulse, headed by a mysterious man who became Ken’s rival in flight. Just before going on a suicide mission, the leader revealed that he was Ken’s father.
Apparently, Kentaro previously faked his death so he could spy on Gallactor.
Gatchaman II They present an unusual situation between daughter and mother. Dr. Sylvie Pandora was Dr. Nambu’s administrative assistant. He specialized in cybernetics. She had lost her husband Domingo and her six-year-old daughter Sammie in a shipwreck.
During Dr. Pandora’s time, Gatchaman’s new nemesis was a being called Gel Sadora. This new Gallactor puppet was very tall, good at fighting but prone to tantrums.
At the end of the second series, Gel Sadora was revealed to be a mutant, created from a six-year-old girl that Sosai X, Gallactor’s boss, took from a shipwreck. Gel Sadora regained her memories as Sammie Pandora and attempted to rebel, Sosai X retaliated by killing her mother, a move that led her puppet into open rebellion.
Another example of an unusual father-son relationship is Kakeru from blue flashing and his father kidnapped. A mysterious being called the Black Emperor had kidnapped Kakeru’s father and taken him to the world where stories come to life.
Kakeru had to travel many worlds and stories with his magical friend, Blink, to find his father. After many trials and frustrations, Kakeru discovered that the Emperor was none other than his father. His father had wanted Kakeru to experience how wonderful books and stories could be.
holly Monster Rancher He also set out on a journey to find his missing father. Little did she know that when she was just a little girl, her father had resurrected Moo, the most evil creature in the world of Monster Rancher. Moo had the power to turn other monsters into evil creatures.
Moo’s body had been sealed by the Phoenix a long time ago, but his mind had been able to take over the mind of a human. Moo used his human body to search for his original form. He first sent henchmen to destroy Holly’s village because the clue to the location of her body was in a stone given to him by Holly’s father. The village elder managed to save Holly and tell her to find the Phoenix. Holly accepted the mission, but never imagined that in the final battle with Moo, she would have to fight her own father.
Nadia from Nadia and the secret of blue water He hadn’t been trying to look for his father. I was just trying to figure out what the blue pendant he was wearing was about. Fate, however, had other plans and not only gave him a father but also a brother.
Throughout his adventure, he met the mysterious Captain Nemo, leader of the submarine called Nautilus. At first he thought he was a bad person because his vehicle had been terrorizing many citizens. To complete this short list of unexpected relationships between parents and children, let’s mention Yusuke from Yu Yu Hakusho.
Would you ever think that he has demon blood and is related to Raizen, one of the worst demons in the demon world? Well, maybe that’s not so far off, since he was practically a demon on the loose every time he fought. But transforming into a demon when he died a second time and looking like his ancestor, that was unexpected.
Crosses and Ties
We can’t choose our family. However, there are some people who would love to change history and be related to other people except their blood relatives. One of them would be Omi Tsukiyono from white cross.
Raised as Mamoru Takatori, Omi was adored by his siblings and mother, and slightly tolerated by his father, Reiji Takatori. When he was young, he was kidnapped and never received a ransom. He was rescued by a mysterious man who turned out to be Shuuichi Takatori, brother and number one enemy of his father, Reiji.
Mamoru was so traumatized by his experience that he developed amnesia. He was trained to be an assassin and later emerged as Omi. He went to school and had a relationship with Ouka, Reiji’s daughter. Later in the show, one by one he killed, helped kill, and watched the entire Takatori clan die. What he never discovered was that his real father was Shuuichi, who had an affair with Reiji’s wife, Kikuno.
Those strange relatives
From parents and children, let’s move on to siblings.
Kaede and Momiji Kushinada are sisters whose blood was fatal to the monsters called Aragami. At the beginning of blue seedKaede was believed to have died trying to find her destiny and Momiji was in danger of being killed by Aragami.
A special group called TAC, headed by Kaede’s adoptive father, was formed to protect the remaining Kushinida. A major problem arose in the latter part of the show, when Kaede resurfaced, this time conspiring with the enemy. She believed that her destiny was to wipe out all of humanity, which had become evil forces that were destroying the planet. It’s up to Momiji to stop her.
Emeraude was the princess and Ferio was a Zagato street rat in the anime. Magic Knight Rayearth. Emeraude was Ferio’s older sister. Just before Emeraude decided to become the pillar of Cephiro, she gave Ferio two communication brooches as a parting gift. They never saw each other again after that because Ferio’s memories were altered so that Emeraude could become the pillar without distractions. Ferio regained his memories after his sister’s death and in the second season of Magic Knight Rayearth, he took his rightful position as prince of Cephiro.
Relena and Zechs Mobile Suit Gundam Wing They are another pair of brothers that you would never think of as relatives. She was the future Queen of the world and defender of the Earth. He was an agent of Oz and almost wiped out the Earth. She relentlessly stalked a Gundam pilot and frequently asked him to kill her. He was very fond of changing his name and wore a mask to hide his identity. Maybe they aren’t so different after all. They certainly knew what they wanted and were willing to do anything to get it.
However, of all the unusual siblings that exist in the anime world, Megaburst Space Maze would probably take the cake. Maze was a normal Japanese girl who was transported (along with a part of her house) to some kind of sword and sorcery world.
Once there, she was cursed to turn into a child at night. The male-type Labyrinth was totally opposite to the female-type Labyrinth. Let’s say he was constantly driven, that is, driven by his hormones. In a world where the female population wears little clothing, he was in seventh heaven.
The truth about these two is that they were actually siblings on Earth named Mei and Akira. Akira was a year older than Mei and has a totally bad attitude. Although the two were very close. Akira wanted nothing more than to protect Mei and guard her forever. Mei would go to Akira’s apartment (since he had been kicked out by his sadistic father) to simply clean the place and make sure her brother ate.
Due to their general behavior, Akira had to repeat a year in high school and since they were so close and Mei’s classmates considered him as another Mei, everyone started calling the brothers Meis or Maze. When they were transported to the new world, their wish to become one came true.
The last one on the list is quite unexpected. No one would have imagined that Dilandau and Allen would be related. In Vision of EscaflowneAllen’s younger sister, Serena, was kidnapped when she was little. She was then “adopted” by the kingdom of Zaibach and continued experimenting.
Years later, he became Dilandau, a sadistic leader extraordinaire with a penchant for slapping his subordinates. Near the end of the series, Dilandau reverted to Serena for a short time after seeing all of her subordinates die. She returned to her Dilandau form but was never the same sadist again. At the end of the series, she turned back into Serena after Allen fought Van for his life.
