The fantasy light novel by Kanata Yanagino. The distant paladin is being adapted into a television anime series, with an airing scheduled for October 2021.
The Faraway Paladin tells the story of Will, a boy who is reincarnated in a world with vague memories of his previous life. There, he is raised by three Undead and begins to learn the true meaning of his existence. Yanagino has been serializing the work in Shosetsuka ni Naro (Become a Novelist) since 2015, and Overlap Bunko have published four volumes of the light novel so far.
The main cast of the anime adaptation consists of Maki Kawase playing the lead role of William, also known as Will. She is joined by Katsuyuki Konishi as Blood the skeleton, Yui Horie as Mary the mummy, Nobuo Tobita as Gus the ghost, and Ayumu Muraase as Menel the high elf.
Directing the series is Yu Nobuta, who previously worked on the fall 2020 series Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, alongside Tatsuya Takahashi and Koji Haneda as writer and character designer respectively. The animation is produced by Children’s Playground Entertainment (Tsukiuta. THE ANIMATION 2).
