The Bink animated short is finished and arriving on June 28!

I know it’s been a while since I posted here, but things have been pretty busy. On May 1, my wife and I welcomed our daughter into the world, and she is absolutely amazing. She is a very calm baby, but it takes time to get used to having another child.

This alone is enough to keep me busy, but we’ve also been very busy with the company. We have been working hard on our clients’ projects and have now finished episode 1 for them and are currently working on 3 others at the same time. The first episode will be released on July 1 and then one every month.

As if that weren’t enough, we’ve also done our best to finish Bink’s first episode. I knew we were releasing the client project in July and I really wanted Bink to be the first animation my company released. I’m happy to say that yesterday we finished the last lighting shot and today we finished everything in the edit. Which seems a little poetic to me, since today is also my birthday. I think it’s a nice birthday gift and I combine it with my two amazing children, a wonderful wife and I couldn’t be happier.

So yeah, Bink is done, and that’s really hard to believe. Now I have the final edition of Bink and now I’m just waiting for the release date. We have been working on it for more than a year, as many of you know. My big fear now is that since I’ve been talking about this for so long, everyone’s exceptions are really high. While it is beautiful, it is also very short. Not counting title and credits it is only 30 seconds. It will take you longer to read this post than it will take you to watch Bink 5 times.

We started with the goal of making an animated short to show the quality of work the studio could produce. I planned for each episode to be very short, quick jokes, but the series, when watched together, will have an overarching story that unfolds. I was hoping to have several episodes finished by this point, but we weren’t working on this full time, so it took us a while to finish this first episode. It was also a great learning experience and we all learned a lot along the way.

It feels great to finally have it finished, but I’m also very nervous. When you invest a lot of your time in something, you become protective of it. I imagine this feeling might be similar to the one I’ll have when I drop my kids off at school for the first time. You may be wondering: will they be okay? Will other children like them? Well, I wonder if Bink will be okay and the other kids will like him. I hope you all love Bink as much as I do and want to see more of him by the end of this very short first episode.

This Sunday I will be hosting a Bink Screening and Wrap party for the entire team and their guests. I’m very excited to share the finished short with all of them, since some of them haven’t seen it since they were on the project. No matter what small or large role each of them played in creating Bink, I will always be grateful for all their help. This event will be about celebrating his incredible talent and contributions to bringing Bink to life.

I’ll try to make a couple of Facebook Live videos of the event, so keep an eye on your Facebook feeds on Sunday night. However, you won’t be able to see the short until this Tuesday, June 28. An amazing birthday gift would be if everyone could help me share Bink with as many people as possible. Post the video link on all your social media accounts, email it to all your contacts and let’s see how many views we can get.
