yeah! The whole flashback episode! Always a delight, never a horror. When out of the blue this sentence comes out: The entire mermaid empire cannot exist unless it is supported by the princess’s true love. And wouldn’t you know it, there are two princesses who are based on The Little Mermaid because I guess Laura is just a sequel. Also, if it was true that any princess would do this, then why didn’t someone else fall in love instead of saving the kingdom? Why is Laura the only princess that matters?

In any case, they all dream of escaping, but “luckily” one of them falls in love. Another does the Little Mermaid thing, but ends up murdering and stealing his lover’s soul, which the farmers don’t take kindly to. So, you know, that whole thing about humans “unjustly” killing a princess? A petty act of regicide is a hard thing to hide. But Laura is very special because she didn’t murder the first boy she dated because she suddenly convulsed and turned into half a tuna, frightened. Boy, dating standards in anime do matter.
