Maybe we should change the title of Spider-Man: New Day to Spider-Man: Mental Health Daybecause God knows Peter Parker (Tom Holland) needs one.
At the end of Spider-Man: No Way HomeDoctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) cast a spell that made everyone forget Peter existed. The spell saved the multiverse, but left Peter completely isolated, even from his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and his best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon).
The ‘Dune: Part Three’ teaser is here to get you back on the Timothée Chalamet train
Spider-Man: New Day begins four years after the end of Spider-Man: No Way Homeand it’s clear that isolation has never been easier for Peter. In the trailer, he watches videos on social media of MJ and Ned’s first day at MIT and continues to long for their company, especially when they become his neighbors.
As if the crushing loneliness wasn’t enough, Spider-Man: New Day It also sees Peter going through some serious physical mutations, including the development of organic networks. For help with this, he turns to another expert in painful superhero transformations: Dr. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo).
Bruce isn’t the only MCU favorite featured in the trailer. Frank Castle/The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) is also in the mix, challenging Peter in a high-stakes car fight. Additionally, the villain Scorpion (Michael Mando) Spider-Man: Homecoming is back, just one of the many scary bad guys Peter faces in the trailer.
Noticeably missing? Sadie Sink, who has been confirmed to star in an as-yet-undisclosed role. IGN speculates that she appears briefly in the trailer as a character in a long coat and gray hoodie, who appears to be a powerful psychic. Could this be our first look at the MCU version of Jean Grey?
Will Peter find his way back into MJ and Ned’s lives? What’s going on with his powers? And what will it be like? Spider-Man: New Day configuration Avengers: Judgment Day? We will have to wait until July to find out.
Spider-Man: New Day hits theaters July 31.
