This February, Sakuraco kindly sent me their Valentine’s Box of Delights (2025) for a practical review. If you’re new to Sakuraco, it’s a Japanese subscription service that delivers traditional snacks straight from Japan to your door. In fact, it is the perfect way to experience the flavors of the country without leaving home.
As always, my thoughts and photos are 100% my own. And just a heads up: if you decide to purchase a box using my links, I may earn a small commission, but it won’t cost you anything extra.
You can check out my in-depth Sakuraco review for even more details. And if you’re curious about previous boxes, feel free to take a look at last year’s reviews to see how they compare!
Do you want to take a look at what’s inside? This is what you can expect!
What’s in the Sakuraco box – February 2025?

Since my country is included in Japan Post Priority Shipping + Tracking – Country Group (estimated delivery time: 7-28 days / shipping fee $12.50), it takes some time to arrive. But honestly, the box is worth the wait. Each time I get excited knowing that I am about to open the box and devour a carefully curated selection of delicious Japanese sweets and snacks.
Inside each Sakuraco box, you’ll find a carefully selected variety of savory and sweet snacks, all accompanied by a brochure and card in English. The brochure serves as a guide, offers information on the cultural theme of the month and features stunning images. It breaks down each snack, explaining what it is, possible allergens, and whether it’s suitable for vegetarians. In fact, some of the snacks even include a backstory describing how they are made.
I think it’s worth mentioning that Sakuraco sources their snacks directly from Japan and partners with local artisans and small businesses to bring authentic regional delicacies to subscribers. This makes it even more special, since many of these snacks cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
This particular box had 14 snacks (plus tea), with a couple of repeats, and a plum furoshiki. There were delicacies like senbei, sable cookies, baumkuchen (my favorite!), yokan, arare and karinto. While the focus was mainly on the sweet flavors (this is typical for Sakuraco), there were also some rare salty and savory options, such as Daruma senbei or Tanba Kuromame/Seto Salt, to balance things out.
favorite snacks
It’s always hard to pick favorites, but there were definitely a few that caught my eye (and yes, I completely spoiled the baumkuchen; if you’ve read my reviews, you know I’m obsessed with it). Honestly, baumkuchen is always a favorite whenever it’s included in the box!
Baumkuchen Pudding

I don’t know what it is about baumkuchen, but I can’t get enough! It has this perfect balance of subtle but delicious sweetness, and when you take a bite, it’s so soft, moist, and just melts in your mouth. This had a hint of pudding and caramel flavor, but just enough to enhance the flavor without overpowering it. It’s still the classic and delicious baumkuchen that I love!
Chocolate yokan

Made with sweet red bean paste, this chocolate yokan has a smooth, gelatinous texture. The chocolate flavor is subtle and blends smoothly with the natural sweetness of the beans. I found it to be a perfectly balanced delight: silky smooth and satisfying in every bite. I also loved how its gentle sweetness still provides a deep, comforting richness.
Strawberry Monaca

I didn’t know what to expect from this one but I was pleasantly surprised. The slightly sweet but rich strawberry filling was wrapped in delicate, slightly crunchy wafers, but the overall texture remained soft and melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
Chocolate and Orange Cookie

Crunchy and infused with vibrant orange flavors and rich dark chocolate, this cookie left me wishing there were at least 20 more in the box! I loved how refreshing the orange flavor was – it created the perfect contrast to the rich chocolate.
Chocolate Karino

This chocolate karinto came in a larger package than most, so it lasted me at least three days. I enjoyed it with both green tea and coffee; It featured crispy, fried strips of dough coated in syrup, creating a rich, satisfying sweetness that paired perfectly with the bold flavors of my drinks.
Final Thoughts on Sakuraco’s February 2025 Box
Sakuraco has never let me down; In fact, every box I’ve received from an honest review (and there have been many!) has been a delightful surprise, introducing me to my new favorite Japanese sweets and snacks. It may sound cliché, but this is the closest I came to trying Japan.
If you’re not planning a trip to Japan but still want to enjoy authentic Japanese delicacies from the comfort of your home, Sakuraco offers several subscription plans to choose from. The best option is the 12-month subscription, which reduces the monthly cost from $37.50 to $32 plus shipping.
