Wandering Planet Toys has revealed Showa WarLor, a new addition to its planetoid raiders Line of action figures inspired by the look and spirit of the tokusatsu, manga, anime, and toy culture of Japan’s Showa era. Anime Corner has the opportunity to exclusively reveal the figure ahead of New York Comic Con 2026, while the Kickstarter campaign is now also live.

Showa WarLor reinvents the existing WarLor character with a new color scheme, Japanese planetoid raiders Logo and art on the back of newly designed card. The figure is intended to be a tribute to the era that produced franchises and characters such as godzilla, ultraman, Kamen Rider and super sentaias well as sofubi collectibles associated with Japanese monster and hero culture.
The launch also coincides with the centenary of the beginning of the Showa era in Japan, which ran from 1926 to 1989.
Wandering Planet Toys co-founder Chris “Doc” Wyatt commented:
“Beware of evildoers and toxic megamonsters: WarLor will enlarge to the size of a Kaiju and return you to Monster Island. SKREEONK!!!”
Co-founder Gavin Highight also shared the following:
“It’s amazing. Some kind of cosmic rift has opened up, some alternate universe where this version of WarLor has crossed over from! Already a mysterious character, now we learn of a completely new and different existence (and decorative painting) for the character! Is there any place or time this mystical space traveler hasn’t been? I hope it evokes joy for other collectors like it does for us!”
Showa WarLor joins the broader group planetoid raiders lineup, a series of 1:18 scale retro-style figures with five points of articulation. The line is inspired by Kenner’s 1978. star wars figures and Tomland Toys’ Steroid raidersthat combines the aesthetics of vintage sci-fi toys with original characters.
Other first wave characters include Captain Oton, Helmsman Ryot, Yogun, and WarLor, along with additional figures revealed throughout the campaign. Figures are available individually on retro-inspired card backs or as part of a lunchbox-style metal collector’s box featuring artwork by Bill Rude.
Wandering Planet Toys is currently funding planetoid raiders via Kickstarter, where Showa WarLor is available along with the rest of the line ahead of New York Comic Con 2026.
