Netflix returned to AnimeNYC with a packed audience on the main stage to hear some news and previews from their anime library. Hosted by media personality Juju Green, the night was filled with excitement from the crowd as some announcements got everyone excited for what’s to come in the streaming platform’s original anime lineup.
First, fans were surprised when Academy Award nominee Brian Tyree Henry appeared on stage to introduce the new Netflix anime series. Bass X Machina. Made by Studio Mir, the people behind castlevania and The devil may cryThe new series is a steampunk western take on historical lawman Bass Reeves as he takes on criminals, machines, and even the supernatural to protect his family. Brian, who serves as executive producer, plays the title character. The cast also includes Tati Gabrielle, Cree Summer and Janelle Monae. Monae is also the singer behind the series’ theme song Wondaland. Fans were treated to the first five minutes of the show along with the opening theme. Fans can watch the show unfold when it premieres on Netflix on November 3.
Next on the list is the popular action series. Sakamoto Dayswhich launches its second season next year. Audiences were treated to a first look at the new season, which features some of the new faces they’ll see in the next installment. The series continues the adventures of legendary hitman Taro Sakamoto, who comes out of retirement after being hit. Expect new thrills and humor once the series returns in January.
The streamer presented a new anime series called fool’s nightA dystopian science fiction thriller that takes place in a world plunged into eternal darkness caused by an ecological disaster. To help humanity survive on this desolate, oxygen-depleted planet, they are given the option to become plants for two years through a procedure called transflowering. The new series follows protagonist Toshiro Kamiya, who transforms himself to have a better life, but ends up in a network full of lies and conspiracies. It’s the first partnership between Sunrise and Shaft studios, and the new series is expected to hit Netflix on November 26.
The highly anticipated second season of blue eyed samurai It gained attention as fans were excited to see what’s next in Mizu’s story on her quest for revenge. The public was able to get a quick look at the new season and the release date will be in January next year. On top of that, the series’ conclusion was announced to come in 2028. So expect Mizu’s story to come full circle when the series comes to an end soon.
one piece has struck a chord with fans around the world as the Netflix anime and live-action series has made a global impact. Those who are new to the franchise can experience the story of Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates from the beginning with the anime reboot. The unique piecescheduled for release in February 2027. Fans were also shown some products in the form of vinyls and Legos to check out. Speaking of Legos, one piece Cast member Jacob Romero GIbson, who plays Usopp on the show, surprised the audience on stage by revealing the new Legos special coming to the platform. The two-part animated special will adapt the first two seasons from Usopp’s perspective in Lego form. Expect it to hit shores on September 29.

To round out the evening, the panel ended with a first look at the latest installment of Cyberpunk: Vanguard Runners. Fans were shown the first look at the new season being dubbed. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. A new story that takes place in the world of Cyberpunk 2077Trigger returns to liven up the series with an all-new trailer along with a new opening theme from The Cure. Fans can watch the latest series when it launches on October 20.
