AnimeNYC 2026: Netflix kicks off conference with slate of new and returning animated series

Netflix returned to AnimeNYC, and the main stage was packed to watch some news and sneak previews from their anime library. The night was hosted by media personality Juju Green and the crowd was buzzing with excitement as a few announcements got everyone hyped for what’s coming to the streaming platform’s original anime lineup.

First, fans were surprised when Academy Award nominee Brian Tyree Henry took the stage to introduce Netflix’s latest anime series BassX Machine. Produced by Studio Mir, behind the scenes Castlevania and Devil May CryThe new series is a steampunk western that follows historical lawman Bass Reeves as he battles criminals, machines and even supernatural forces to protect his family. Bryan, who serves as executive producer, plays the title role. The cast also includes Tati Gabrielle, Cree Summer and Janelle Monáe. Monae also serves as the singer for the series’ theme song with Wondaland. Fans enjoyed the first five minutes of the show as well as the opening theme. Fans can watch the show unfold on November 3 on Netflix.

Next up is the popular action series Sakamoto eraa second season will not air next year. Viewers got a first look at the new season, which introduced some of the new faces they’ll see in the next installment. The play continues the adventures of legendary killer Taro Sakamoto, who returns after suffering a blow. Expect some new excitement and humor when the show returns in January.

The streamer introduces a new anime series called fools nightA dystopian science fiction thriller set in a world plunged into eternal darkness due to an ecological disaster. To help humans survive on this desolate planet without oxygen, they can choose to transform into plants within two years through a process called transflorescence. The new drama follows the protagonist Toshiro Kamiya as he undergoes a transformation for a better life, but ends up trapped in a web of lies and conspiracies. This is the first collaboration between Sunrise Studios and Shaft Studios, and new episodes are expected to be available on Netflix on November 26.

The highly anticipated second season blue eyed warrior Fans are excited to see the next step in Mizu’s story of seeking revenge, and thus the spotlight. The release date of the new season will be in January next year, and viewers can quickly experience it. On top of that, the series was also announced to end in 2028. So, as the series comes to an end, Mizu’s story will come full circle.

one piece With animated and live-action series on Netflix making a global impact, touching fans around the world. Those who are new to the series can experience the story of Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates from the beginning through the animated reboot. One Piecescheduled to premiere in February 2027. Fans also saw some merchandise in the form of vinyl records and Lego bricks for them to check out. Speaking of Lego bricks, one piece Actor Jacob Romero Gibson, who plays Usopp in the show, surprised the audience on stage by unveiling a new LEGO special that will be launched on the platform. The two-part animated special will adapt the first two seasons from the perspective of Usopp in Lego form. It is expected to arrive at the coast on September 29.

To round out the night, the panel ended with a recap of the latest installment Cyberpunk: Edgerunner. Fans get first look at new season being dubbed Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. A new storyline takes place in Cyberpunk 2077Trigger returns, bringing an animated twist to the series with a new trailer and Cure’s new opening theme. Fans can check it out in the latest episode, released on October 20.
