In a blink of an eye, it’s the end of the year again! A lot has changed over the course of the year, both for this blog and for me. Although it is difficult for me to keep updating Meteor Dreamer, I couldn’t help but post a New Year’s post for you all.
As the New Year approaches, everything is different than before. I feel like the anime community and anime in general are always changing and maybe even evolving. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing, I’m not sure. All I know is that it changed my attitude towards anime. (and how often I keep up with anime)
But my tradition of making New Year’s resolutions hasn’t changed. After thinking deeply about my resolutions, I don’t see them as achievable goals in the future. If these goals are not achieved but are being worked towards, then progress and growth are still possible. Accomplishing the goal is not necessarily the focus of the resolution, it simply provides guidance for the effort.
Another thing I realized is; New Year’s resolutions aren’t always made at the end of the year. I gathered some information and signs that I needed to improve, but they kept popping up in my mind throughout the year.
My New Year’s resolution for next year doesn’t have to be one thing. My goal is to take advantage of the opportunities available; gain skills, experience and improve myself wherever possible. This is a continuation of some of my past self-care New Year’s resolutions, and that’s what I plan to focus on.
I encourage others to set goals for themselves, even if they are small. Just working toward those goals and having something to keep you on track can help ensure you don’t lose your way.
Happy 2019 to everyone!
