Band accuses popular animated film of trademark infringement and consumer confusion

Christian metal band Demon Hunter filed a lawsuit against the streaming service in the Central District Court of California on August 18 Netflix Live entertainment promoter AEG unveils logo for popular 2025 animated film Kpop Demon Hunter. More damagingly, by leveraging their superior resources and influence, Defendants could and did eclipse Hyde Lane’s Demon Hunter logo in the marketplace and effectively misappropriate the mark’s source-identifying meaning…Thus, Defendants’ greater size and power overwhelmed Hyde Lane’s established identity, caused consumers to believe that Hyde Lane was affiliated with, sponsored by, or derived from Defendants, and deprived Hyde Lane of power over its business destiny.
