Ubisoft has announced that this week’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resync update will be its “last major content update.”

Last week, Ubisoft broke its months-long silence on Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced by revealing an upcoming New Game Plus mode, and at the time I wondered if that would be the only thing in the update. Now we have all the answers, with Ubisoft’s patch notes detailing a higher difficulty mode, hidden community chests, new takedowns, new cosmetics, and a host of bug fixes. Not bad for the final farewell to the renewed pirate game.

The New Game Plus mode is pretty standard, allowing you to play the main mission from the beginning with everything you learned in your previous playthrough and with increasing world difficulty for each new playthrough. The same goes for Nightmare difficulty, the game’s toughest challenge with the “deadliest” enemies. Specifically, all your enemies will deal 1.8 times their normal damage, parries will be harder to achieve, and most importantly, the one-shot kill safety will be disabled, meaning any stray bullets will have the potential to take you out even if you are at full health. Meanwhile, stealth will be more tilted in your enemies’ favor, all ships will deal more damage to yours, and even sea creatures like sharks and jellyfish will be more dangerous than before.

There isn’t much information about the new community chests, but Ubisoft says they will be “more difficult” to find and will include “special community-requested rewards.”

In a nice little throwback to 2013’s Black Flag, the final Resynced update will add new takedowns from the original game, including hidden sword, unarmed, single-sword, and sword takedowns. I have no idea why they weren’t in the remake to begin with, but better late than never. Rounding out the update are a ton of new cosmetics including new outfits, new pet skins and trinkets, which you can discover by playing New Game Plus mode, as well as a treasure chest full of bug fixes.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced version 1.0.8 launches on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 27.
