As you all know, here at Anime Limited we love bringing you the best in anime, and today we are very excited to tell you about another incredible addition to our catalogue, as we bring the magnificent anime adaptation of BANANA FISH to the UK, North America and France.
This MAPPA-produced series fully adapts Akimi Yoshida’s cult classic manga, which aired from 1985 to 1994, and quickly established itself as a fan-favorite series with its heady mix of drama and gang violence woven into a story that was equally adept at exploring the sexuality and relationships of its main characters.
If you’re not familiar with the series, here’s a quick synopsis of the show.
About BANANA FISH
Ash is the head of a gang of street kids in New York. One day, a man who was murdered before his eyes confides something to him.
And the last words spoken by that dying man were the phrase “BANANA FISH.”
Ash has a destined meeting with Eiji, a kind Japanese boy, but as he gets closer to the mysteries behind “BANANA FISH,” both Eiji and Ash become embroiled in a massive conspiracy…
Our launch plans
Without a doubt your next question will be: how can we watch the series?
Well, you’ll be pleased to know that you won’t have to wait too long for your first chance to solve the mystery of BANANA FISH, as the series is coming to Netflix in its entirety from Wednesday August 12, 2026 – you will be able to watch the series in the UK and Ireland, USA, Canada and France.
And that’s not all, in addition to English and French subtitles, we are also delighted to announce that the series has received a completely new dub in both English and French. We will announce the full cast of the series at a later date, but for now we can confirm that Ash Lynx will be voiced by Brandon McInnis in the English dub and Sébastien Baulain in French, with Eiji Okumura played by Jonathan Tanigaki in English and Grégory Laisné in French.
Following this streaming release, we will of course also be bringing the series to home video in the US, UK and France. Watch this space for more details, but we’re currently aiming to release the series on Blu-ray in early 2027.
Whether you’ve seen the series before or are completely new to it, we can’t wait to bring you BANANA FISH and its new dubbed presentation so you can enjoy this classic series again and again!
